The
production of Gringo Killer chilli sauces and chilli condiments
came about when I planted a Rocoto ( Capsicum pubescens) chilli
bush in my garden with my medical herbs. The health benefits
are many when using chillies, and the main constituent Capsaicin
is used in modern medicine. Using plants for treating illnesses
is one of my passions and I have Diplomas in both Herbal medicine
and Naturopathy.
The original chilli bush that started me
off in the chilli food business has since died off after seven
years in my garden, but it did leave a self seeded off spring
which is now growing in its place.
Cooking interesting and different food is
another of my interests, and I could never find a chilli sauce
that was not just hot, but had flavour and texture.
After adapting my own recipes and using different
formulas I have a range of chilli sauces that New Zealanders
can use in their cooking and on their food.
My daughter is now helping me in the day
to day running of Gringo Killer Gourmet Chilli products so
it is now becoming a family business.
